Session One: "The Legal Framework Governing Legal Departments"

The session examined the legal framework governing legal departments, emphasizing the importance of strengthening their role as a strategic driver within organizations. Rather than being limited to ensuring legal compliance, legal departments should actively contribute to achieving institutional objectives. To support this transformation, the session stressed the need to guarantee the full independence of legal departments and adopt a proactive approach to legal management.

The session further explained that achieving a balanced contractual structure enhances contract performance, reduces legal risks, and supports the achievement of intended outcomes. It also highlighted the importance of developing legal policies aligned with the organization's strategy and operational needs, enabling legal departments to effectively support various business functions.

Second Session

Session Two: "Governance of Legal Departments"

The session highlighted the critical role of governance in enhancing the effectiveness of legal departments by developing solutions that support institutional strategic objectives. A legal department operating under strong governance principles is significantly better equipped to mitigate organizational risks.

The speakers emphasized the importance of fostering teamwork within legal departments to promote collaboration, reduce internal conflicts, and improve institutional performance. Effective management remains the key driver of organizational success.

Workshop One: "Negotiation Skills and Dispute Avoidance"

The workshop focused on the strategic role of legal departments in ensuring effective negotiations that contribute to the successful execution of contracts and commercial transactions. It explored negotiation strategies that balance stakeholders' interests while protecting organizational rights.
Participants emphasized the importance of monitoring contract implementation to ensure compliance with agreed terms and prevent potential disputes. The workshop also highlighted that applying legal governance principles enhances contractual flexibility, as legal professionals possess a comprehensive understanding of organizational objectives and associated risks.

Fourth Session

Workshop Two: "The Role of Legal Departments in Dispute Resolution (Negotiation, Mediation and Arbitration)"

The workshop examined the role of legal departments in dispute analysis and resolution, focusing on risk identification, legal impact assessment, and the development of proactive risk management strategies before contract execution, during implementation, and after disputes arise.
It further emphasized cooperation between dispute resolution and litigation teams to ensure accurate contract drafting and compliance with international standards. The workshop also highlighted the need for careful drafting of amicable settlement clauses before arbitration to avoid rendering arbitration clauses ineffective or unenforceable.
