The fourth edition was held under the theme Empowerment and Localization, with the participation of more than 110 legal figures from 18 Arab countries, including lawyers, judges, arbitrators, academics, and representatives of arbitration centers, sports bodies, and commercial institutions.The conference discussed ways to localize the arbitration industry in the Arab world and reduce the migration cases to foreign venues by strengthening local legislation, supporting the independence of arbitration centers, and empowering Arab arbitrators at both regional and international levels.The program included scientific sessions addressing the role of the Arab judiciary in supporting arbitration, the intervention of arbitration centers in the arbitral process, and the impact of arbitrators’ ethical duties on the quality of justice. The conference also witnessed the signing of cooperation protocols between Arab arbitration centers and the honoring of prominent figures in the field, including Sheikh Dr. Thani Al Thani, Dr. Michel Hakim, and Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Bassem. The theme Empowerment and Localization reflected a clear strategic objective: reducing the migration of arbitration cases abroad and strengthening the ability of Arab countries to manage and resolve their disputes within their own legal environments Participants discussed how to build an independent Arab arbitration system that is competitive, trustworthy, and professional, while reducing reliance on foreign centersThe conference brought together a distinguished group ofjudges,lawyersarbitrators, academics, and representatives of arbitration centers, as well as sports and commercial bodies. This diversity enabled a rich dialogue between different legal schools and contributed to the exchange of expertise among the Gulf countries, North Africa, and the Levant.The sessions extended over two days and covered several key topics, including:The role of the Arab judiciary in supporting arbitrationThe intervention of arbitration centers in the arbitrl process: between regulation and influence The ethical duties of arbitrators and their impact on arbitral justiceArbitration in government contracts and shareholders’ disputes Recent international experiences were also reviewed, such as the amendment of the English Arbitration Act 1996 and France’s efforts to issue an independent arbitration law, allowing participants to compare legislation and identify opportunities for development. The conference witnessed the signing of several cooperation protocols between Arab arbitration centers to enhance coordination and exchange expertise.
